We believe in paying
for good software.

We’re CONFLICT, a small boutique software studio. We make software for a living. We understand the work behind it, and we believe the people who build and maintain it deserve to get paid.

Harvest was part of that value chain. Our account dates back to 2012. We liked it, relied on it, and paid for it. On August 11, our bill was $130 for 14 people. The next day, an email told us our September renewal would be $2,145 a month.

Same team. New plan packaging. 16.5 times the bill. We asked support to make it make sense. They confirmed the numbers and offered lower-cost, usage-based alternatives. Those were still far above what we had been paying.

We didn’t stop believing in paid software. We stopped believing that bill made sense. So we built an exit: eZacto, the time tracking and invoicing tool our team is now dogfooding.

The Flex alternative prices more than seats: support told us it also considers the dollar value of our invoices, along with active projects, clients, and tasks. We don’t think a time tracker’s price should depend on how much our work is worth to our clients.

Good software should earn your business—not depend on how hard it is to leave. That’s why we’re preparing an open-source release. Run it yourself, or help us decide whether to offer hosting at a straightforward per-person price. We want you to have a choice.

If 500 people tell us they want it, we build the hosted service. Signing up is free, takes one field, and costs you nothing if we never launch.

And if we don’t get there, nothing is lost. eZacto is being prepared for release under the AGPL v3, so you can run it yourself for free either way. The hosted service would only ever be the convenient option, not the only one.

Prefer to run it yourself? That’s the point.

eZacto is being prepared for public release under the GNU AGPL v3. The self-hosting paths use Cloudflare Workers or a single container. No eZacto software subscription is required for self-hosting.

The source repository is still private while we prepare the release. Infrastructure, email, domains, and payment-provider fees may apply; free software doesn’t guarantee free hosting.

What exactly changed on your Harvest bill?

Our August 11, 2026 receipt shows $130 paid for a monthly Business plan with 14 seats. Our renewal email says the account would automatically move to Enterprise with Unlimited usage at $2,145 per month on September 11, 2026.

The September 1 reminder also offers Flex at an estimated $957.50 per month, varying with usage. The August 12 notice had estimated $995. Support separately offered Teams Flex at approximately $866.50 on August 26, with fewer Enterprise features. We’re comparing our own paid bill with the automatic-renewal quote—not claiming everyone received the same price or that the two plans are identical.

Harvest’s current pricing page separately describes seat and usage billing. We’ve left personal and payment details out of this reconstruction.

Is hosted eZacto available now?

No. We run eZacto ourselves and have a hosted demo, but a managed service for customers is still proposed. This page takes no money and creates no subscription.

What if you don’t reach 500?

Then we don’t build the hosted service, and we tell you so. You lose nothing: you never paid, and eZacto is being prepared for public release under the AGPL v3 so you can run it yourself. The source repository is still private while we prepare that release.

Is this an exact Harvest replacement?

It covers the time-tracking and invoicing workflows we built it for. We’re not claiming identical features or integrations. Explore the demo and, once the source is public, evaluate the self-hosting and migration guides against your own needs.

No. eZacto is an independent project by CONFLICT LLC. Harvest belongs to its respective owner. The experience and account figures on this page are ours.
